(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Iranian religious leaders hold conference to praise the high character of Imam Hussein (AS) calling third Shia Imam as the role model for prominent liberal leaders of the world.

Shia and Sunni leaders gather in a one day conference held by the Supreme Leader’s Office of Sunni Affairs to express the views of different Islamic denominations on the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) hailing the move as a course to teach humanity.

Hujjat-ol-Islam Abbas Ali Soleimani, prayer leader of Zahedan, in this conference said,” The event of Ashura, when Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala, is the mother of all knowledge that taught us to protect our honor and freedom and also confront tyranny.”

He also referred to Mahatma Gandhi, Indian liberal leader, and other world pioneers of liberal moves who were inspired by the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) to stand against the colonial and tyrannical powers of their times.

“Ashura, apart from religious prejudices, is a lesson and a guide for all liberals of the world.” He said.

Mowlavi Abdul Malik Maleki pour, prayer leader of Konarak in Sistan and Balouchestan Province, called it an honor to learn and follow the lessons from Imam Hussein (AS).

” Had he wanted to obey the tyrants, Imam Hussein (AS) would never scarify his children.” He said and highlighted Jihad and martyrdom in the path of God as the philosophy behind Ashura.

Cleric from the Southeastern town of Konarak also hailed the active continuation of the uprising by Imam Hussein (AS) and lauded the martyrs whose blood has guaranteed the survival of Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Hujjat-ol-Islam Mousa al Reza Teymouri, the manager of Supreme Leader Office in Sunni Affairs in Iranshahr said the conference aimed at strengthening the commonalities of Shia and Sunni and discussing the honor and affection of different Islamic denominations for the household of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

He counted the different topics discussed in this conference among them; the character and status of Imam Hussein (AS) in Shia Sunni Hadiths, Ashura in view of different Islamic denominations and also the role of Ashura in formation of Islamic movements and uprisings.

On the sideline of this conference, in the Southeastern Province of Sistan and Balouchestan, an exhibition of the books by Sunni authors on the character of Imam Hussein (AS), philosophy of Ashura and also liberal movements was held.
